You can discover on the above picture the beautiful architecture of the Adelaide Arcade. The Arcade was completed in December 1885; it took only 5 months to be built and 2 months to get occupied. Over two millions bricks have been needed and 50,000 square feet of glass were used. The Adelaide Arcade was one of the first buildings to use electric lighting. The architect of the Arcade was James Cumming, he was also the architect of the Australian Mutual Provident Building. It is said in Adelaide that the Arcade has a resident ghost, who would be the caretaker of the Adelaide Arcade, he was called Beadle, but in the early 1900 he got a nasty end, he got his head in the electricity generator and was mutilated. The Arcade is known to be a historical building.
