While visiting the
parks of Adelaide you will see monuments and statues as the one
you can see on the above photo. The Elder Park is located on the
bank of the Torrens River in Adelaide, South Australia. The name
was given after the Elder family who were the former settlers
and who had the company Elder Smith known as Goldsborough Mort
before. In 1882 the Elder Park Rotunda was erected. The Botanic
Gardens make part of the Adelaide parklands. The garden
comprises of 125 acre. The garden was opened in 1857, the
Colonel William had designed the garden on his city plan in 1838
but it was only in 1854 that it was established, after a public
appeal to Governor Henry Young. Sir Henry Young was the fifth
Governor of South Australia from August 1848 to December 1854,
after that he has been the first Governor of Tasmania from 1855
to 1861. In the garden you will discover the famous Palm House
or the Rose Garden. For those wanting to spend a relaxing day
during their vacation in South Australia, the parks of Adelaide
are the best places to visit. |
