The palm House of the Botanical Garden of Adelaide is also known as the old greenhouse. The palm house or glasshouse was imported from Bremen, Germany in 1875 and opened in 1877. It is a Victorian glasshouse which is located west side of the main lake of the garden. The term Victorian refers to an architectural style. A greenhouse or glasshouse is an area where plants are cultivated. These types of buildings are usually made of glass or plastic, the electromagnetic radiation of sun warms the soil plants or other things in the glasshouse. Most greenhouses are used to grow flowers, fruits, tobacco, and vegetables. The Greenhouse of the Botanical garden has large collection of plants from Madagascar.
