The parliament
House of Adelaide is the biggest parliamentary building in
Australia. It is the seat of the parliament of South Australia.
The much known architect Edmund Wright and his partner Llyod
taylor were selected to design the Parliament House. At this
time the plan has impressive towers and large dome but the dome
has never been constructed. The construction started on the west
wing in 1874 and finished in 1889. It took 65 years to get the
Parliament House completed because of financial problems. Sir
John Langdon Bonython made a donation of 100.000 pounds in the
1930s. In 1939 it was completed. The parliament House had been
built with West Island granite and Kapunda marble. |
