In the
Southern part of Australia you will find the state of South
Australia which has as capital city, Adelaide, name give after
Queen Adelaide. The total land of South Australia is over
900.000 square km. South Australia is considered as the fourth
largest states of Australia. South Australia has a population of
around 1,5 million and is the fifth in population rank. Most of
the inhabitants live in the capital city, Adelaide. The first
European to visit South Australia were the Dutch in 1627,
Francois Thijssen, who was on the ship Gulden Zeepaert, called
his discovery “Pieter Nuyts Land”, it was only in 1802 that the
coastline was first mapped by Captain Flinders and Nicolas
Baudin. Baudin called the land “Terre Napoleon”. South Australia
has arid and semi arid land and low ranges of mountains as the
Mt Lofty and Flinders Ranges. The highest point of South
Australia is The Mt Woodroffe at 1435 m which is in the Musgrave
