Eagle Farm is
a suburb of Brisbane, capital city of Queensland Australia. It
was the location of the former airport till the current one has
been built. It was only in 1839 that Eagle Farm first appeared
as a suburb name. It seems that the name comes from the
Wedge-tailed Eagles found in the area. In 1922 the eagle Farm
aerodrome was the first time used as a landing area and was
officially opened only three years later. In 1970 it was decided
that a new airport would be constructed north of Eagle Farm as
the former was not big enough for the city of Brisbane. The
Brisbane Airport has a cargo terminal, a domestic terminal and
an international terminal. In 2005 the airport won by the
International Air Transport Association, the Best Privatised
Airport. The domestic airlines that fly to Brisbane Airport are
Quantas, Alliance Airlines, Australian Air Express and Macair
Airlines and the International Airlines are Air Pacific,
Emirates, Air New Zealand, Korean Air, Malaisian Airlines,
Quantas International, Aircalin, Air Niugini, China Airlines Eva
Air, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Air Naury, Freedom Air,
Thai Airways, International, Royal Brunei, Singapore Airlines,
Pacific Air Express and Solomon Airlines. |
