Tangalooma
village is located on Moreton Island. Moreton Island is situated
forty kilometres away from Brisbane. It is considered as one of
the largest sand island in the world. The length of Moreton
Island is thirty eight kilometres and the width is nine
kilometres. The highest point of the island is Mount Tempest
which has a height of two hundred and eighty metres and is may
be the highest sand dune of the world. In Tangalooma you can
have a stay in the Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort. Moreton
Island is also a National Park where you will discover wildlife
and a lot of historical sites. There have been aboringes living
on the island for around twenty thousand years. The European
started to settle on the island during the year 1863. Tangalooma
was operating as a whaling station between 1952 and 1962. It was
only when the whaling station closed that the resort was
constructed. When you are on the Moreton Island you can also
visit the lighthouse of Cape Moreton built in sandstone and the
beautiful beaches. |
