Hms
Beagle was a set of eight ships which transported Charles
Darwin, a famous naturalist and geologist after whom the city
Darwin itself was named, around the world. The Hms Beagle was
very famous; this is due to the work Charles Darwin made on
board and all his researches. The ships were part of the royal
navy and named after The "Beagle", which was a breed of dogs.
The Beagle is among the most famous ships recognised world wide.
The first voyage was done on the 22nd august 1825. It was
commanded by Captain Bringles Stokes who fell in depression due
to the desolate waters of Tierra Del Fuego which he had to go
through. After arrival at Port Famine he locked himself in his
cabin for 14 days then committed suicide 12 days after. On the
2nd august 1828 his death was announced. He was then replaced by
Captain Parker King. |
