The Timor sea is the arm of the Indian ocean. It is located northerly of Australia. It is 400km large having a peak depth of 3,300 m called the Timor Through. This is situated in the north part of the sea, mainly towards Dili, the town of one of the islands which occasionally is subjected to typhoons and tropical storms. Australia controls the continental shelf well-beyond the median line, between two countries, Australia and Indonesia since the 1970's. This control passes through the Timor Sea where many activities take place. On the 20th of May 2002, at the restoration celebration of the independent day, the maritime boundary signed the Timor Sea Treaty; an arrangement allowing the joint of petroleum development by Timor sea pending a maritime boundary between two countries. The oil and gas industry has much been evolved since the last few years. This is because of the fertility of the soils found beneath the sea. It is rich in oil and gas. This has quite lately been discovered. Nevertheless the service Australians’ has rapidly tried covering the time loss.
