Gunumeleng is
one of the seasons of Kakadu. The Indigenous Australians has
decided that Kakadu would have six seasons. The season of
Gunumeleng happens in October, November and December. It is the
season of hot temperature and weather, it is the pre-monsoon and
there is a lot of humidity in air at this period. The air is
heavy, in the evening the paperbark trees that blossoms attracts
colonies of fruit bats to feed themselves. In the afternoon the
thunderstorms and showers give a green nice colour to the
parched earth. At this period the old water cleans the permanent
billabongs from the stagnating lakes. It is a time where the
Barramundi comes out from their holes. At this period of the
year the people moves from the floodplains to get shelter
because of the violent storms and wet weather. The Kakadu region
is an area that visitors need absolutely to visit when they go
on holiday in Australia. |
