Gurrung is
another of the six seasons of Kakadu. As there was so much
different weather the aboriginal people of Australia decided
that there would be six seasons in this region. Gurrung is in
August, September. At this period of the year the weather is
hot, there is no wind. It is the good time to hunt for long
necked turtles and snakes. On Field Island the sea turtles will
come lay their eggs on the sandy beach. Kakadu is a magnificent
region to visit and learn about the aboriginal culture. You will
be able to discover in the park different mammal species,
insects, reptiles and the famous saltwater crocodiles. You will
see the Alligators River; the river has been misnamed because
while visiting the region an explorer mistook a saltwater
crocodile for an alligator and named the river of the same name.
The saltwater crocodile is considered a quite dangerous and
called man eater in the region. |
