Heron is a
wading bird species from the family of Ardeidae. Sometimes they
are called bitterns or egrets. Egrets are usually not
biologically a group of herons. Even the herons as storks,
spoonbills and ibises resemble birds there are some difference
in flying, they retract their necks. Their main type of food is
aquatic species, frogs and fish. The Ardeidae has different
subfamilies as botaurinae, tigrisomatinae. Here are some
different herons species, Bermuda night neron which is now
extinct, yellow crowned night heron, reunion night heron also
extinct, white backed night heron, nankeen night heron, japanese
night heron, green heron, indian pond heron, chinese pond heron,
madagascar pond heron, great blue heron, grey heron, cattle
egret, cocoi heron, black headed heron, black heron, western
reef heron, slaty egret. While traveling Australia you may see
some herons or egrets by lakes. |
