Ngurrungurrudjba is one of the main attractions in Kakadu. The area has over one hundred and twenty thousand people each year. Ngurrungurrudjba is the name aboriginal uses for Yellow Water billabong. Along the Alligator River you will see estuarine crocodiles also known as salt water crocodiles; you will also be able to observe the Jacana also known as Jesus bird. All the attractions in Kakadu will give visitors the opportunity to learn about the aboriginal people, the plants, wildlife, geology, customs and culture of the people and the area. In the Bowali Visitor Centre you will have a lot of information about Kakadu. Alligator Rivers is also the name of a region in Arnhem Land; the region has three rivers, West, East and South Alligator River. This area is full of aboriginal art with around one thousand five hundred sites. The river has been named by Phillip Parker King in the year 1820 and he mistook saltwater crocodiles for alligators.
