Nourlangie
Rock is located in Kakadu National Park in the Northern
Territory, Australia. The Nourlangie Rock is a magnificent area
where you will discover great aboriginal paintings. The
Nourlangie Rock is divided in two parts, the upper and lower
part. The two parts have each a name, the upper part known as
Burrunggui and the lower part, Anbangbang. At Burrunggui, you
may discover three main sites, the Anbangbang gallery, Gun-warddehwardde
and a rock shelter known as Anbangbang shelter. Each clan groups
from the aboriginal people have different stories. On the rocks
you will also discover the lightning man, Nammarrgon and his
wife Barrjinj. You will also see Nabulwinjbulwinj a male figure
which is to be seen alone, he was a dangerous spirit who ate
females after killing them by striking them in yam. Nourlangie
Rock is a spectacular place to visit. In Kakadu National Park
you learn about the culture and customs of the aboriginal people
and discover fabulous rock paintings. |
