In Kakadu
National Park you will discover spectacular rock paintings as
the Nourlangie rock. Here are some of the paintings you can
observe, Namondjok, Mamarrgon, Barrginj and Nabulwinjbulwinj.
These paintings are very sacred to the aboriginal people. When
you are visiting the rock galleries it is forbidden to touch the
paintings. In the year 1980 there has been an archaeological dig
at Anbangbang rock shelter where they found that the aboriginal
people have been using the shelter for around twenty thousand
years. The aboriginal people say that the shelter has been used
by the Warramal clan, the owners of the area. When you visit the
Kakadu National Park you will be able to learn a lot about the
customs and culture of the ancient aboriginal people who have
been living in the area. So do not miss to visit the place when
you are in the Northern Territory. |
