Some of the
paintings you will discover in Kakadu are considered to be
paintings that were done for sorcery or magic. The indigenous
people have a lot of beliefs; the paintings they make on the
rocks are very sacred for them. Namarrgon who is also called the
Lightning Man is for the aboriginal people responsible of the
storm that appears during the wet season. Nabulwinjbulwinj is a
dangerous spirit who ate females after having killed them by
striking them in yam. Namondjok is also one of the paintings you
can observe on the Nourlangie Rocks. The different clan groups
have different stories about this Creation Ancestor, some
aboriginal people will tell you that you will see him at night
only and that he lives now in the sky. Other clan group will
have a different way of seeing him. When you visit the site you
will learn how the aboriginal people live, their way of thinking
and understand their paintings but it is not allowed to touch
