In the region
of Katherine in the Northern Territory of Australia, you will
find a lot of land with termites nest. A termite nest is also known
as a termitarium. The queen of the termites and most of its
colony live in the termitarium, which is made of mud but as hard
as concrete. In the nest it is moist, dark and cool which is the
perfect condition for termites. Each type of termites will build
a different type of nest. Some of them will build a mound nest
which is made above the ground, some others will build a
subterranean nest , which can be for example in the crown root
of a tree, or they can also construct an arboreal nest which is
usually attached to a tree stem or branch. |
