The tram in
Melbourne is a quite common way of transport. While visiting
this fabulous city you can use as transport the tram, which is
very comfortable. Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Company were the
first to operate in 1885 with the first cable line. The first
electric tram line was constructed in 1888; it was from Box Hill
Station to Doncaster and was opened in 1889. As the owners
didn’t know anything about the electric system line tram it died
in 1896. The North Melbourne Electric Tramway and the Lighting
Company were the first to construct in 1906 the first serious
electric tramway line. One of the well known classes of electric
tram is the W6 class which operates in Victoria, it entered in
service between the year 1951 and 1955. The W6 class tram is
comfortable and fast. There is in Melbourne four W6 class trams
in service with Yarra Trams, a tram company in Melbourne, it is
an Australian company, Transfield Services and a French company
Transdev that started their partnership in 1999. So while
visiting Melbourne, do not miss to take at least one the W6. |
