When talking about Bennelong Point, you are of course also
talking about the Sydney Opera House. The local Indigenous
Australians used to call it Tubowghule. Originally, the point
was a little island which was has connected to Sydney. During
the year 1788 for a short period, the point was called Cattle
Point. Bennelong was also a person exactly an aborigine, he was
married to Barangaroo. Bennelong was captured in November 1789
which was a plan from Arthur Philip to learn the customs and
language of the local inhabitants. During the year, 1958 it was
decided to construct the famous Sydney Opera House at Bennelong
Point which was designed by John Utzon. |
