This is a picture from the Harbour Bridge of Sydney by night.
The two ends of the bridge are located at Milsons Point and at
Dawes Point. The Bradfield Highway is the road across the
bridge, which is about 2.4km long, which is one of the shortest
highways of Australia. The shortest highway is found in Brisbane
in Australia and is also called Bradfield Highway. The bridge is
48.8m wide and was recorded in the Guinness World Records in
2004. The Harbour Bridge was officially opened in March 1932.
The Harbour Bridge is one of landmarks of Sydney with the Opera
House. The bridge is the largest of the world but not the
longest. It was proposed in 1815 by Francis Greenway to build a
bridge, but till the project was concretised it took years. The
longest span of the bridge is five hundred and three metres and
the total length of the bridge is one thousand and one forty
nine metres. Tourists visiting Australia love to make pictures
of the Harbour Bridge. The construction of the bridge was
managed by John Bradfield, Laurence Ennis and Dorman Long,
Edward Judge were also involved in the construction of the
Harbour Bridge. Jack Lang, the Premier of New South Wales opened
the bridge by a cutting a ribbon. |
