Homebush bay is located in
Sydney, Australia. It is a suburb of Sydney, nearby the suburb
of Newington. Homebush Bay is also near the suburb of Liberty
Cove. In the past Homebush bay was a swamp, contaminated with
heavy metals, and the environment cleaned up to build the
stadium. But Homebush bay is mostly known for the venue of the
Summer Olympics of 2000 at the Sydney Stadium, now known as
Telstra Stadium. The Sydney Olympic Park has an area of six
hundred and forty hectare. At this area where the Olympic Park
is located were before living the Wann-gal group from Indigenous
Australians and after came the British to settle at this place.
The Telstra Stadium has been completed in March 1999. The
stadium has been built to receive the 2000 Summer Olympics. At
its construction the stadium could hold one hundred and ten
thousand persons but in 2003 the space was reduced and could
receive a little over eighty thousand people. |
