The opera
house of Sydney is one the most distinctive and the most famous
20th century buildings, and one of the most famous performing
art in the world. It covers 1.8 hectares of land and is 183
meters long and about 120 meters feet at its wildest point .The
roof of the opera house are covered with 10.056 million glossy
white and matte cream Swedish made tiles, through a distance,
the tiles look only white. The court hall and the Opera theatre
are each contained in the two largest groups of shells. The
interior of the building is composed of pink granite and brush
box. The construction of the Opera house cost was about
102millions and the construction was over in 1973. The Queen
Elizabeth 2 on 20 October 1973 formally opened it. And at this
occasion there was a performance of Beethoven's symphony 9.The
opera Theatre is mainly used for the performance of the Opera
Australia which is the major Australia opera company and the
third busiest opera in the world and is also used by the
Australian ballet company which was founded in 962. The concert
hall contains about 2676 whereas the studios theatre contains
only 364 seats. Besides all this, the Opera house is also us for
wedding ceremony, parties and conferences. |
