Broadly
similar in appearance to the wombat, the Koalas is usually found
all around the coast of Australia as there is enough rainfall
there to support suitable forests. It lives mostly entirely on
Eucalyptus leaves. But the Koalas has a low metabolic rate for a
mammal and rests for about 19 hours a day. That’s why the Koalas
are animals, which are sleeping most of the time. All the rest
of the time that they are awake, the koalas spend all their time
eating which usually happens at night. The weight of the Koalas
varies about 14kg for a large, male, and about 5kg for a small
female. The animal has thick, not soft and cuddly fur. As human
being, the koala has five fingers per paws, which are arranged
with the first two as opposable thumbs, providing better
gripping ability, for the front paws, and one thumb with two
attached index fingers for the hind paws. Being an animal very
dependent, the Koalas faced only one problem, as they feed
themselves with only one type of Eucalyptus. However, the
solutions to this problem are to plant and keep trees for food
and shelter in the areas where the animals can reach. A koala
normally lives between the 15 to 20 years. |
